Hello! Welcome to my blog. :)
All excited about Pixar

Yep I loved “UP” …. “Squirrel!!!”

Well the first thing I have to say is that although we all know how the ending will turn out (we can’t have kids crying), the film is enchanting to watch.

There is a beautiful story at the beginning that warms the coldest of hearts – the love story between Carl and Ellie. That is a clever way to suck parents in, eh Pixar?

Looking forward for the next one :)

UP

I feel guilty for abandoning my Movie Crazy Aficionado blog such a long time but I'm still looking for a job so I guess I got a good excuse.

Ohhhh my first love cartoons.

I am so excited for this new cartoon coming out from Pixar called Up.

I can’t wait to see it (I did the same with Madagascar. Every time there is something ew they come up with I go back to being a kid and wait impatiently util it comes out on the big screen.

I am too tired to write a whole piece on this but I decided to share the video with everyone … hooray!

Angels and Demons vs The Da Vinci Code

I am torn between going to see Angels and Demons at the cinema or staying in until it comes out on DVD and get it via Love Film. I was discussing this with Alec, my brother last night. He isn’t that thrilled with the trailer for Angels and Demons.

I enjoyed some of The Da Vinci Code, until it got all weird at the end and the nice everyone loves everyone finale spoilt the whole thing. Iam scared the same phenomena might happen again i.e. me and my cheesy nachos seating comfortably in the cinema chair awaiting for another scary thrill from the Vatican City and get only a mere “boo”.

The reasoning behind my fear is: director is the same (Ron Howard), one of the screenwriters is the same (Akiva Goldsman) and main act is the same (Tom Hanks). Now there is a good thing when a team that works good together come back and work on another project, however when the first project was wishy washy then how’s the next project going to be?

Occasionally in an attempt to make sequels better or at least at the same standards as the originals, Hollywood directors take brave steps and introduce a lot of either explosions and more “thrill” action or they overcomplicate the scripts thus making them less credible. I wonder which is the path Ron Howard takes this film… I’m betting on the latter.

So will it be a The Da Vinci Code

or will it be the Angels and Demons.

Well there is only one answer to this. I guess I’ll have to go and see the movie and make an informed opinion :)

Terminator Salvation

(see trailer below)

The most recent venture of the Terminator franchise - Terminator Salvation - brought on screen Christian Bale and Sam Worthington.

I must say initially I thought that by not seeing Terminator 3 I might not have a clue of what is going on with this one. Couldn't be farther from the truth. I managed to pick up the action as soon as the film started, however the ending spoiled it for me (to be honest I was expecting it... its a franchise after all and it needs its fans glued to it).

I would say that if anything this film should be praised for its special effects (sound and visual). This is not a film to see at home on your couch. So get your tickets whilst it's still on.
Terminator Salvation needs to be seen on a large screen with large state of the art sound to get you involved as much as you possibly can. (come to think of it I think I would have loved to see it on 3D. I think the effects would have had a greater impact on me).

Terminator Salvation is set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

Sam Worthingtom does a great job here. Hopefully we will see him in something else really soon (my suggestion something radically different like a rom-com).

However the best scene from this film in my opinion was the one getting an Arnie-like Terminator pop out and try kill John Connor. That was really well done and I am very curious weather that was an actual cameo of Arnie or if McG managed to take older footage of Arnie and fit it in the film (I'm saying that as he looks so much younger in this film).

So my thoughts on this are go see the film and see how you like it. For those with a passion for this franchise this will be a bonus, if you like special effects you'd love this, but for the rest of you mortals this might be a bit disappointing as you can definitely see the hint of a Terminator 25 at the end of the film. "I'll be back"
